New Pool Care
Congratulations on the purchase of your new pool. You will find the following information helpful in the "caring" for your pool. Once the start up has been done, you now have to know about New Pool Care to keep your pool clean and inviting. During the first two weeks it is very important to brush the plaster surface (floors, walls, steps, and benches) as often as possible. I would suggest 3 to 4 times a day for the first 3 days, twice a day for the next 4 days and at least once a day for the next week. I would also suggest that you run the filter continuously until the water is clear. Continuous filtration helps speed up the elimination of plaster dust. It can take 2 to 3 months before the plaster is considered completely cured. During this time dirt and plaster dust can cement itself to the plastered surface. Frequent brushing will prevent this. Also the brushing will further smooth andpolish the surface and help to clear the plaster dust out of the pool. To clean your pool, begin brushing with the brush at the tile line and then forcefully drive the brush downward along the pool walls and across the bottom, in the direction of the main drain. To help clear out the "dust", it is more effective to have the main drain open and the skimmer closed down while brushing. This can be done by sliding the plate over the opening in the diverter valve assembly, located in the skimmer.
Important
Do NOT close the skimmer off completely. This can cause an insufficient intake of water into the pump which can cause cavitation. Pebble-Tec finishes do not require the same maintenance during the initial start period. I would suggest that you brush the surface a few times in the first week to help eliminate loose pebbles from the mix. Then brush the pool every couple of weeks to maintain a beautiful interior. As soon as possible after the start up take a sample of your pool water, in a clean plastic container, to your pool supply dealer for complete water analysis. Follow the dealer's instructions for adjusting pH, alkalinity and water stabilizing. These steps will assure that you have a beautiful pool that is running efficiently. We all have very busy lives so if you are short on time, you can contract with a pool cleaning service who will do all the work for you plus take care of the chemicals that are needed for your pool.
