Patio Gardens

Patio gardens are becoming increasingly more popular. As society moves to guard gated communities with small back yards, and just no room, They are the answer.

They are perfect for container gardening, or raised bed gardening. They are the answer for the older generation who don't want to get down on their hands and knees to do gardening, or for those that have physical challenges. They can be designed so that they can be easily reached by someone in a wheelchair.

They make room for a productive vegetable or flower garden without giving up the yard that the children need.

In most cases, you can turn any plot of land into a fairly big garden. You can buy the top soil and other organic materials or you can get containers that include the soil and other material. You can use crushed rock in between your containers to keep the area less muddy if you live in a rainy climate.

Patio gardening does not require a plot of plantable land and time commitment to watering, weeding and generally taking care of each plant. The benefits are no more store bought tomatoes, baby lettuce hand picked one salad at a time, and juicy tomatoes that remind you of your childhood when everyone had a garden. Using self watering containers allows you to grow high producing plants in a low maintenance environment. You can be a weekend gardener or a very dedicated one.

The containers that you choose can be anything from a redwood window box, terracotta boxes, hanging baskets and even an old pair of boots. You can express your design with colored pots, diverse textures and any design element that you can imagine. It can be offbeat or classic.
