Pool Cleaners

Pool cleaners are a necessity. I have two pool cleaners on my pool: AN IN-FLOOR AND A VACUUM Why? Because it cleans and brushes at the same time. It gives me more time to enjoy my pool. We all have busy lives and I want to enjoy my spare time as much as possible and not be saddled with the chore of cleaning the pool. I can't imagine having a pool without a good cleaning system.

In-floor cleaners

If you're building a new pool, you might want to get an in-floor cleaning system. This system has pop-up heads that are mounted on the floor and they circulate streams of water to direct debris to the main drain. The system then returns heated chemically treated water to the bottom of the pool which enhances both the heating and water sanitization process. Some in-floor systems have special leaf traps which collects the leaves which is better for your pool filter.

These attach to with a hose to the pool's main circulation system, usually through the skimmer and they use the pool pump's power to suck up debris. The debris may be caught in a trap but is usually drawn into the pool's skimmer and filter. Some of the suction-sidecleaners have brushes that loosen algae and debris as the unit jiggles along the pool's floor and walls. You can get a pool pump that is sized to accommodate suction cleaners. You can also get a bypass valve that will allow the cleaner to operate over a wide range of flow rates. With this kind of cleaner you want to remember to keep the filter clean so that the system can operate efficiently.

Pressure side cleaners

Pressure side cleaners use an independent pump which is more expensive, but you're not overworking the pool's pump. They also have debris collection bag so that the pool filteris not affected by their use.

In the Northeast, pressure side cleaners are popular because they can pick up large debris such as pine cones etc. Here in Arizona we use suction cleaners due to the fine, sand that accumulates in our pools.

Your swimming pool representative will help you determine what kind of cleaner that you will need for your area. I would suggest that you also put in the in-ground cleaner. It keeps your pool cleaning chores to a minimum.
