Ramadas

Traditional structures erected as retreats from the blazing sun, called, "ramadas." Native Americans have been constructing similar sun shelters in the Sonoran desert for centuries using natural materials.

Today, a ramada is an outdoor shade structure with a covered fully-enclosed roof, generally matching the architecture and materials used in existing house structure. It generally has 4 supporting columns or posts, with open sides.

Whenever I design a ramada I start by assessing the clients current space and then I discuss with them their wants, needs and budget. I then create a custom drawing that shows the basic layout and functionality of the new ramada. From there, it’s all up to the imagination.

If you're looking for a private place to enjoy a romantic getaway or an evening in the hot tub, and enclosed gazebo is best. Enclosed gazebos come complete with windows and doors, just like a small home in the backyard.

A well designed ramada will provide you with the perfect place to enjoy some quiet time outdoors or a glass of wine with close friends. No outdoor living area is complete without the cooling benefits and beauty of a ramada. They work wonders for the public foyer that courtyards provide, as well as creating shade on your patio and poolside outdoor living spaces.
